Professional symposia and conferences require a certain level of professional behavior among participants. This page offers advice on how to behave at symposiums and other professional events to maximize what you learn, improve your professional prospects, and represent your institution. Participants are encouraged to:
- Wear professional/business attire. (No t-shirts, jeans or tennis shoes)
- Remain for the entirety of a presentation session. Ask questions when appropriate and participate actively in discussions.
- Wait until speakers are finished delivering presentations (or are in between presentations) before entering a session room.
- When possible, arrive early to presentation sessions.
All cellphones should be set to silent –no phones should be touched during presentations.
